Guwahati: In a significant stride towards advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promoting a culture of research and innovation, the Sustainable Development Goals Coordination Centre (SDGCC) under the Planning and Transformation Department launched two pivotal tools: the Nagaland SDGCC Website and the SDG Dashboard on October 17, at the Capital Convention Hall, Kohima.

T.R Zeliang, Deputy Chief Minister, Planning and Transformation, and National Highway, along with notable dignitaries, including Dr. Yogesh Suri, Senior Adviser (SDGs) from NITI Aayog, and John Borgoyary, Regional Head – Northeast India, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), alongside Ministers, Advisers, MLAs, Administrative Heads of Departments (AHODs), Heads of Departments (HODs), SDG Nodal Officers from various departments, and Deputy Commissioners or their representatives from the districts attended the meeting.

In addition to the inauguration of these ground breaking tools, the event also felicitated the winners of the Nagaland Action Awards 2022, SDG Innovation Participatory Action Research Initiative 2.0, and the SDG Essay Competition 2023.

These initiatives showcase Nagaland's commitment to engaging communities and inspiring innovative solutions to achieve the SDGs.

A state-level consultation on the national multidimensional poverty index 2023 was conducted, featuring a performance analysis of Nagaland and the state's journey toward multidimensional poverty reduction, with resource persons from NITI Aayog and UNDP.

During the event launch, T.R Zeliang emphasized that the SDGs represent more than just a global agenda; they encapsulate a shared vision of prosperity, equity, and sustainability for all.

He highlighted that Nagaland is the first state in Northeast India to establish the SDG Coordination Centre and is also one of the first states in India to formulate the SDG Vision 2030.

Nagaland was also selected among four states in India to present the SDG best practices, which led to the development of the sub-state indicator framework in the National Workshop organized by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation in Delhi on October 31, 2022.

In praising the efforts of the SDGCC team led by R. Ramakrishnan, Principal Secretary (Planning) & Development Commissioner, and Ms. Nayantara Sasikumar, OSD (Planning) as the Nagaland SDG State Nodal Officer, T.R Zeliang highlighted that the SDGCC Website and Dashboard reflect Nagaland's commitment to transparency, accountability, and progress.

These tools will serve as a platform for all stakeholders to access resources, provide real-time data and insights, and become a policy instrument for addressing developmental challenges.
