Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, on Friday for the 50th time since assuming office. During this milestone visit, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 44 development projects worth Rs 3,884 crore, according to Kashi region BJP president Dilip Patel.
Among the key projects are rural development schemes, including 130 drinking water initiatives, construction of 100 new anganwadi centres, 356 libraries, a new polytechnic college in Pindra, and a government degree college. The PM will also unveil a transit hostel at the Police Lines, police barracks in Ramnagar, and four rural roads.
The event will be held in Mehdiganj on the Ring Road, outside the city limits, to ensure accessibility for rural residents. PM Modi will inaugurate 19 projects worth Rs 1,629.13 crore and lay the foundation stone for 25 others valued at Rs 2,255.05 crore. The public meeting is scheduled to begin around 11 a.m.
Kashi city BJP president Pradeep Agrahari emphasized the significance of the occasion, calling it a ‘memorable milestone.’ BJP leaders noted that each of Modi’s visits has brought new development initiatives to Varanasi, strengthening his bond with grassroots workers and citizens alike.
As part of the infrastructure push, Modi will lay the foundation stone for a bridge linking the Varanasi Ring Road and Sarnath, flyovers at Bhikharipur and Manduadih, and a highway underpass road tunnel on NH-31 near Varanasi International Airport, collectively worth over Rs 980 crore.
To boost power infrastructure, he will inaugurate two 400 KV and one 220 KV transmission substations and related transmission lines in Jaunpur, Chandauli, and Ghazipur, amounting to Rs 1,045 crore. Additionally, he will lay the foundation for new substations in Chaukaghat and Ghazipur, and for the upgradation of Varanasi’s power distribution network worth Rs 775 crore.
Under the Smart City Mission, Modi will launch renovation work on 77 primary schools and initiate the construction of a new building for Kasturba Gandhi School at Cholapur. He will also lay the foundation for a synthetic hockey turf with floodlights, a spectator gallery at Uday Pratap College, and a mini stadium at Shivpur to boost sports facilities.

Further, the PM will inaugurate the redevelopment of Samne Ghat and Shastri Ghat along the Ganga River, initiate improvements in six municipal wards, and unveil landscaping and sculpture installations across Varanasi.
Water supply will receive a major upgrade with the inauguration of 130 rural drinking water projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission, worth over Rs 345 crore. In a welfare push, PM Modi will distribute Ayushman Vaya Vandana cards to senior citizens above 70 years and present GI certificates for local products like tabla, paintings, thandai, and tiranga barfi.
He will also transfer a bonus of Rs 105 crore to milk suppliers in Uttar Pradesh affiliated with Banas Dairy.
