Washington,DC: Tesla CEO Elon Musk has confirmed that the company's highly anticipated robotaxi unveiling event, originally scheduled for August 8, will be postponed.
As per reports, Musk announced on X, the social media platform he owns, that he requested a design modification for the vehicle's front, necessitating the delay. While he did not specify a new date, he hinted that the additional time would allow Tesla to showcase other features.Tesla has yet to comment officially on the delay.

Reportedly, the event would be pushed to October due to Musk's requested changes. This news initially caused an 8 percent drop in Tesla's stock, although it has since recovered, rising nearly 3 percent by Monday afternoon. Tesla shares, which had plummeted over 40 percent earlier in the year, have surged more than 80 percent since hitting a 52-week low in April.

Musk has long promoted Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, asserting that it will enable a fleet of income-generating robotaxis. Since its introduction in late 2015, the FSD system has been tested on public roads by thousands of Tesla owners. However, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has documented 75 crashes and one fatality involving the FSD system. It remains unclear if the system was directly responsible for these incidents.

Despite the advanced capabilities of Tesla's FSD, the company, based in Austin, Texas, has maintained that the system cannot operate autonomously and requires human drivers to be ready to take control at all times.
