Itanagar: The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), a subsidiary of NTPC, has entered into an agreement with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh to collaboratively develop hydroelectric projects with a total capacity of 2,620 MW.
These hydroelectric projects are anticipated to have a crucial role in advancing India’s objectives for green energy, which align with the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) target. The NDC target aims to achieve a capacity of 500 GW in non-fossil energy by 2030.
These hydro projects hold immense promise for fostering economic growth within the region. The projects are expected to generate substantial employment opportunities, thereby contributing to the local economy.
Moreover, they will also aid in skill development and the cultivation of technical expertise among the local population.
