Guwahati: The Indian Chamber of Commerce has launched an Indo-Bangladesh trade portal (https://indobanglatrade.com) to explore and conduct cross-border trade activities between the two countrues.
The portal is a brainchild of Azharul Alom, Trade and Protocol Officer at Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh and Office Secretary at India Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Guwahati branch. Alom informed Business Northeast that this is a need of the hour as there are various trade opportunities evolving between India and Bangladesh. This portal is launched particularly to help the northeastern region.
It is a first-of-its-kind portal to assist and facilitate the business fraternity of India and Bangladesh. The portal provides a database of exporters and importers from the North East as well as Bangladesh. It will enable both Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) collaborations between the two countries.
The categories of products are displayed both product-wise and Land Custom Station-wise.
Some of the products from India are limestone, coal, ginger, fruits, vegetables, boulder stone, pulses, bamboo, cement and spices. Further, products from Bangladesh include garments, food products, cement, PVC plastic items, waste cotton, mosquito net, dairy products and edible oil.
The Land Custom Stations from India included Dalu, Mahendraganj, Suterkandi, Karimganj, Manikachar, Dawki, Dhubri Steamerghat and Golakganj LCS.
Similarly, the Land custom Stations from Bangladesh included Dalu, Mahendraganj LICP, Karimganj, Suterkandi, Karimganj, Mankachar and Sheola-Suterkandi.
The website also displays Bangladesh products in India and vice versa. Some of the famous Bangladesh products in India included Pran products, Basundhara tissue and RFL plastic products.
The Indian Chamber of Commerce has also introduced two mobile applications for the same portal for B2B and B2C collaborations. These applications contain similar features as those in the portal.
