Meghalaya govt plans Phase 2 of IT Park in Shillong

Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma recently held a meeting with the officials of the IT and Communications Department to discuss the progress of Phase 2 of the Tech Park.

The Shillong Technology Park at Umsawli was opened last February with an aim to create over 1,500 jobs in the IT sector.

The IT Park already has a state-of-the-art BPO facility provision for 400 employees. It was set up by 24x7.ai and the company aims to make significant investments and create over 2,500 direct and indirect jobs over the next two years.

During the meeting, the chief minister also discussed the IT and ITES Policy, State Data Centre, provision of Wi-Fi in the State Secretariat, proposal for implementation of e-Cabinet and last mile connectivity in Meghalaya.
