Shillong: A two-day training program was held on June 24th and 25th, 2024, for Local Resource Persons and Cluster Coordinators and Field Inspectors at Clover Organic Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with the District Horticulture Office in East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya.
According to state government officials, the training aimed to raise awareness and educate attendees on organic farming basics for implementing projects like Mission Organic Value Chain Development Phase IV and Meghalaya State Organic Mission 2.0.
The main objectives of these schemes are to develop crop-specific organic production clusters, facilitate partnerships between farmers and organic businesses, support organic value chain development, and create market access, enhancing farmers' earnings.
Resource persons from the Agricultural Technology Management Agency, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, East Khasi Hills, and Cooperation Department covered topics such as farming cooperative societies, organic farming basics, field preparation, soil sample collection, on-farm inputs preparation, plantation methodology, post-harvest practices, and intercropping took park.
It needs mention here that the government's mission is to convert and declare Meghalaya an organic state by 2030.
