Guwahati: Guwahati International Airport, a crucial gateway to Northeast India with connections to twenty-four domestic and two international destinations, has experienced a significant upturn in passenger numbers.

In August 2023, the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati saw an impressive footfall of nearly 4.8 lakhs passengers, marking a substantial increase compared to the same month in the previous year.

The top four domestic destinations from Guwahati Airport include Imphal, Delhi, Kolkata, and Bangalore, while the two international destinations are Singapore and Paro.

During August 2023, the airport managed a total of 3,839 flight movements, representing a 14% rise compared to August 2022. This remarkable growth can be attributed to a passenger-centric approach adopted by the airport authorities.

Furthermore, in July 2023, the airport achieved a record-breaking footfall of nearly 5 lakhs passengers, signifying a resurgence in air travel following the pandemic period.

Looking ahead, Guwahati Airport is optimistic about maintaining this positive trajectory in passenger numbers during the upcoming winter schedule, commencing in October. It is expected that passenger numbers will further escalate during the winter season, underscoring the airport's anticipation of robust growth in the months ahead.
