Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday on a visit to Tamulpur during which he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of multiple projects that have the potential to greatly improve the lower Assam district and make it one of the most developed in the State.
The projected medical college and hospital, which are to be built at a cost of Rs. 686 crore, had their Bhumi Pujan, and the Assam Chief Minister was there.
The Chief Minister laid the foundation for concrete river bridges costing several hundred crores. Along with this, the Chief Minister also unveiled a number of road improvement initiatives.
He virtually launched two model schools at Tamulpur and Nagrijuli as well.
In the days to come, Tamulpur district might be radically transformed into one of the most progressive ones on all fronts thanks to the initiatives that were either inaugurated or started today, the official added.
Furthermore, he pledged that Tamulpur will soon house all fully functional district-level offices.
"The present administrations at the Center and the State have maintained to focus on the Bodoland Territorial Region, which has been able to achieve remarkable growth and development in recent decades," he stated.
The Chief Minister further said that the next Orunodoi 2.0 will include 6,000 more Tamulpur district beneficiaries.
He also discussed the idea to give around 7,000 people ration cards.
Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, Assam Cabinet Ministers Urkhao Gwra Brahma and Keshab Mahanta, and BTR Chief Pramod Boro were also sighted with the Chief Minister today, according to the press release.
