Assam: EPCH, Textile Ministry Host 6-Day Entrepreneurship Program To Empower Artisans

Guwahati: The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), in collaboration with the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, successfully organised a six-day Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) from February 1 to February 6 in Guwahati. Artisans, weavers, and handicraft entrepreneurs from the Northeast were introduced to vital business skills to enhance their market potential during the program.

The program was inaugurated by Shri H.K. Baro, Regional Director – North Eastern Region, Office of DC Handicrafts, Ministry of Textiles, and brought together expert trainers from premier institutions such as the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT), and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).

Participants received hands-on training in business strategies, financial management, branding, packaging, digital marketing, and export procedures. The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and market access for artisans, aiming to boost the handicraft sector’s growth in the Northeast.

The EDP is expected to significantly contribute to developing the region’s artisan community by enhancing competitiveness in national and international markets.
