Guwahati: As many as 11 lakh candidates are set to appear in the Grade 3 and Grade 4 exams, Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed on Monday. The syllabus of the same will be released soon.

The CM informed that this time, there will be negative marking as well, which will make the exam “challenging” for the candidates. “Even during the HSLC (10th) exam, the highest number of candidates is 5 lakh,” he said. “Such a record for a recruitment post has only been set by Uttar Pradesh before, and this is the first time Assam will see 11 lakh candidates sitting for an exam.”

He said that this time, exam fees were not charged from would-be candidates. “That has increased the number of applications”, he said.

The candidates will be applying to fill approximately 13,000 vacancies in state government departments.

Earlier this month, the state government said that recruitment examinations would be conducted in three stages - preliminary, mains and viva voce from September. However, Biswa Sarma later informed that as per the feedback received from the public, the ADRE exam pattern will remain the same as last year.
