Guwahati: The Unique Group at the IIT Dam Health Monitoring and Rehabilitation conference (DAMP) in Guwahati recently unveiled the company's latest innovation: the Uni-Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) fleet designed to redefine dam safety protocols and environmental monitoring across India.
Unique Group’s Uni-USV fleet consists of specific USVs ranging from small, medium, and large sizes which can perform hydrographic surveys, habitat mapping, coastal and harbour monitoring, and many other surveying applications.
The highlight of the presentation was the Uni-Mini, a versatile and lightweight unmanned surface vessel (USV) that is a part of Unique Group's new USV fleet. It can be effortlessly operated by just two people, ensuring quick and hassle-free deployment. Uni-Mini USV has been specifically engineered for shallow water surveys, it can be tailored for various surveys, including water quality assessments and environmental monitoring, showcasing its adaptability and efficiency in challenging settings.
"We are thrilled to introduce the Unique Group USV fleet including the light-weight Uni-Mini, compact Uni-Pact, and hybrid Uni-Max to the Indian market. These USVs not only streamline survey operations but also minimize manpower requirements and reduce the risk of environmental contamination while enhancing safety," stated Tushar Kumar Kukadiya, sales manager at Unique Group, while speaking to Business North East.
With a local office in Mumbai and a global presence, including UAE and 20 other locations, Unique Group offers solutions beyond survey equipment and unmanned surface vessels, including diving and life support equipment, buoyancy and water weights, and lifting and mooring. The group has a Research & Development division in the UAE, which drives the company’s pioneering subsea engineering solution development and enables customized solutions for client challenges.
"Our presence at the IIT DAMP conference underscores our dedication to collaborating with government bodies and organizations to develop integrated bespoke solutions," Kukadiya added. "The Uni- USV Fleet represents a significant advancement in autonomous survey technology, promising efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly solutions."
While specifics regarding pricing for the Indian market are variable depending on the requirements of the customers, the Uni-USV fleet has already been used on multiple projects globally. The Uni-Mini has been deployed for projects in the UAE and the mid-range Uni-Pact USV has been used for bathymetry survey of dams in Kerala, for coastal and harbor monitoring in Australia, pipeline survey in the Netherlands, and several other projects in the UK and Singapore. Plans are underway to bring more dedicated USVs to India by the end of the monsoon season, marking a pivotal step in expanding Unique Group's footprint in the region.
With three distinct models of USVs the Uni-Mini, Uni-Pact and Uni-Max in their line-up, Unique Group aims to set new standards in inland water surveys and dam safety assessments, it said.
