ICC Session Spotlights Assam’s Industrial Transformation: Focus on Digital Innovation, Infrastructure, and Policy Reforms

Guwahati: The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Assam & Meghalaya State Council, successfully hosted a key session in its "ICC Guest of the Month" series titled “Transforming Assam’s Industrial Ecosystem: Advancing Ease of Doing Business, Infrastructure, and Digital Innovation for Sustainable Growth” at the NEDFi Conference Hall in Guwahati.

The event, which aimed to explore the state’s industrial transformation, was inaugurated by Shri Sarat Kumar Jain, Chairman of the ICC Assam & Meghalaya State Council. In his address, Jain underscored the critical role of infrastructure development, policy reforms, and technology adoption in unlocking Assam’s industrial potential.

The session featured Dr. Lakshmanan S., IAS, Secretary of the Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises Department, Government of Assam, who provided a comprehensive overview of Assam’s ongoing industrial transformation. He focused on key reforms in ease of doing business, infrastructure enhancement, and digitalization as part of the drive toward Industry 4.0. Dr. Lakshmanan emphasized the importance of digitalizing business processes and creating a sustainable industrial ecosystem in the state.

Dr. Uday Praveen, IAS, Additional Secretary of the Industries Department, Government of Assam, shared updates on legislative measures and digital integration initiatives under the “Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan” (CM Triple A). He outlined the phased approach to digitizing government services and business documentation, aimed at creating a fully digitalized system in Assam.

The session highlighted various key themes, including reforms for MSMEs, infrastructure improvements, policy support, and sustainable resource use. Industry leaders and MSME representatives had the opportunity to engage with Dr. Lakshmanan and Dr. Praveen, contributing their insights and addressing challenges in the state's industrial landscape.
