IIT Guwahati and Airbus India Forge Alliance to Boost Aviation Sector

Guwahati: IIT Guwahati has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Airbus India to address the current skills gap and ignite sustained growth in the aviation sector.

Termed as a strategic agreement, it aims to foster a formal alliance between the two entities and shared commitment to innovation, excellence, and the future of aerospace technology and logistics hub development in Assam.
The collaboration will focus on key areas such as transportation, industries, hospitality, skilling, agriculture, and logistics, with an emphasis on a larger scope of expansion. Additionally, the MoA underscores the mutual commitment to fostering talent and nurturing the next generation of aerospace professionals.

Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted that the MoA would stimulate sustained growth and enhance the global competitiveness of the aviation and logistics sectors in the Northeast. He described the collaboration as a significant step forward in creating a robust and dynamic workforce, boosting the aviation and logistics sector. The partnership is expected to provide a substantial push towards co-creating solutions that will transform the future of aviation in the region.

In recent years, Assam has witnessed significant growth in various sectors, including the semiconductor industry, petroleum refining, polymers, agriculture, tourism, aviation, hospitality, and healthcare. The Chief Minister noted that the MoA would not only enhance the overall capabilities of IIT Guwahati and support Airbus India Private Limited but also contribute to the state's quest for industrialization and technological advancement.

The Act East Policy has opened new opportunities in communication, transportation, trade and business, tourism, cultural exchange, sports, information technology, agriculture, and other sectors, linking the Northeast with ASEAN and BBN countries. The growing demands for economic development in the region can only be met with the support of rapid aviation growth.
