Implemented through the Directorate of Handloom & Textiles, the scheme aims to provide financial support to weaver families by enabling direct procurement of traditional hand-woven items without the involvement of middlemen.
The Swanirbhar Naari Scheme operates through a dedicated portal, swanibharnaari.assam.gov.in, where weavers can register and participate in the initiative. To date, the portal has received an overwhelming response, with 6,00,924 applications from weavers across the state. Following thorough verification by departmental officials, 5,64,811 of these applications have been approved, marking a significant milestone in the scheme's implementation.
