The birth anniversary of Assam's legendary litterateur Mamoni Raisom Goswami was celebrated at the Guwahati District Library on November 14, which also marks Children's Day. The event saw the presence of Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, along with several guests and college students.
During the event, Business North East (BNE) spoke to Ranoj Pegu, who discussed the Assam Government's ongoing educational initiatives. The minister announced that the state has allocated significant funds, approximately Rs 2750 crore for the development of up to 2000 schools.
The plan includes an investment of Rs 7 to Rs 8 crore per school, focusing on improving infrastructure, hiring professional teachers, advancing learning levels, providing quality school meals, and ensuring access to books and other resources.

However, Ranoj Pegu said that there are currently no specific plans regarding the development or infrastructure of the District Library.
