Guwahati: The 24th Edition of SAFE Annual Convention 2023" concludes on Thursday with the note of bringing more Road Safety measures. The SIAM event saw automobile industry leaders coming together to look at a future that’s safer on the roads.
India is going ahead full steam with Bharat NCAP as it has given options to automobile manufacturers to run crash tests and show consumers how safe their vehicles are. Describing the Bharat NCAP crash, Vice President & Head (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, Pamela Tikku described prevailing conditions in India.
New Car Assessment Program or NCAP is a process by which vehicles are picked up and subject to crash testing. It then creates damages in the vehicle and based on the crashworthiness and star rating of the vehicle, the safety performance is evaluated.
Tikku said, "The NCAP testing is done in two test agencies in the country which are NCAP Manesar and NCAP Pune."
She further stated that they have seen the impact on dummies during crash tests, especially children. “I would like you to appeal to everyone that please be careful how children are seated in cars. Do not let children be in front seats and that too without seat belts.”
