In a significant step, the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) has launched a Fisherman Card Enrolment Program in Champu Khangpok, India’s largest and only natural floating village. Located in the Loktak Lake of Manipur, Champu Khangpok is home to approximately 400 residents living in 134 houses, relying on traditional fishing practices tied to the lake's ecosystem.

The program seeks to integrate the village’s fisherfolk into modern financial and institutional frameworks. The Loktak Development Authority, the Department of Fisheries, the Sinheibi Development Organisation, the Champu Khangpok Floating Village Conservation and Management Committee and the Government of Manipur jointly organized this program.

The Fisherman Card connects the community to government initiatives, fostering financial inclusion and economic security under the National Fisheries Digital Platform of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kiran Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PM-MKSSY).
