Northeast Frontier Railway has established an overseas ticketing counter at the Guwahati Railway station.
The passengers will no longer have to travel all the way to New Jalpaiguri or Kolkata to book tickets on the Mitali Express. They can instead do it from the Guwahati Railway station because of the overseas booking.
The opening of the overseas ticketing counter by Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) at the Guwahati Railway Station will be advantageous to passengers who wish to travel with the Mitali Express, including tourists, and who have to conduct business from northeastern states.
The distance between New Jalpaiguri in North Bengal and Guwahati, which is the main city of Assam is 333 km. The NFR, one among the 17 railway zones in India, operates fully and partially in six of the eight northeastern states. However, it excluded Meghalaya and Sikkim, and in seven districts of West Bengal, and five districts of North Bihar.
The overseas counter at Guwahati started its service on September 27, 2022. A GST of 5 percent will have to be paid in addition to the fare. The exchange price of USD will be taken as per the existing rate on the very first day of the month of the journey. For booking tickets, passengers will have to carry a valid passport and visa.
It is to be mentioned that Mitali Express began the services on June 1. It connects the cities of New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal and Dhaka Cantonment in Bangladesh.
