Crude oil futures gain on spot demand

New Delhi: Participants expanded their positions in futures trading on Monday, leading to a Rs 50 rise in crude oil prices to Rs 6,855 per barrel, driven by strong spot demand.

In 4,548 lots, crude oil for July delivery on the Multi Commodity Exchange rose by Rs 50 or 0.73% to Rs 6,855 per barrel.

Experts stated that an increase in stakes from traders led to the rise in crude oil prices during futures trading.

Worldwide, the price of West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose by 0.71 percent to reach USD 82.16 per barrel, while Brent crude was 0.68 percent higher at USD 85.60 per barrel in New York.
