New Delhi: Ola Cabs has stopped using Google Maps and switched to their own Ola Maps for operations, resulting in approximately Rs 100 crore in annual savings for the company.
After Azure left last month, Ola Group's co-founder and chairman Bhavish Aggarwal announced that the company has now completely withdrawn from using Google Maps. He mentioned that the company previously invested Rs100 crore annually on this, but now they have reduced it to nothing by shifting entirely to their own Ola Maps. He requested that users check their Ola apps and make any necessary updates.
He mentioned that several features like street view, indoor images, NERFs, drone maps, and 3D maps will be available soon. Three months after transferring all its work to its AI firm Krutrim, Ola Group officially ended its partnership with Microsoft Azure.
In May, Aggarwal announced on X that the company would end its partnership with Azure and transition all operations to Krutrim within one week. At the unveiling of Krutrim AI, the company announced plans to offer cloud services and mapping solutions as well.
