ATF price hiked 2 pc, commercial LPG up Rs 6.5 per cylinder

New Delhi: The cost of jet fuel, also known as ATF, rose by 2 per cent on Thursday, and the price of commercial LPG for hotels and restaurants increased by Rs 6.5 per 19-kg cylinder as part of the monthly adjustment based on global oil price patterns.

The cost of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) increased by Rs 1,827.34 per kilolitre, or 1.9 pc, to Rs 97,975.72 per kl in Delhi, as per a price notification from state-owned fuel companies. This marks the second consecutive monthly rise in jet fuel prices. On July 1, there was a 1.2 per cent increase in ATF prices amounting to Rs 1,179.37 per kl. The rise came after a significant 6.5 percent (equivalent to Rs 6,673.87 per kl) decrease implemented on June 1.

The ATF price in Mumbai rose to Rs 91,650.34 per kl on Thursday, up from Rs 89,908.31 before. Prices vary by state based on the level of local tax rates. Oil companies also raised the cost of industrial LPG by Rs 6.5 to Rs 1,652.50 per 19-kg cylinder.The rise comes after four consecutive monthly decreases in prices, with the most recent one being a reduction of Rs 30 per cylinder on July 1. Rates were reduced by Rs 148 per 19-kg cylinder in four instances of price cuts.

In Mumbai, the price of a 19-kg cylinder of commercial LPG is now Rs 1,605, while in Kolkata it is Rs 1,764.50 and in Chennai it is Rs 1,817.The rate for a 14.2-kg cylinder of cooking gas used in homes has stayed constant at Rs 803.

 

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) adjust prices of ATF and cooking gas monthly, depending on global fuel prices and exchange rates. Prices of petrol and diesel are still unchanged. Prices were reduced by Rs 2 per litre in the middle of March. Gasoline is priced at Rs 94.72 per unit.
