Guwahati: The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) launched two mobile applications, one for passengers and the other for cab drivers, in Dispur on June 26.
The ASTC City Cabs app offers a range of exciting features for the passengers designated to enhance their journey at a low fare, zero trip cancellation by drivers, accurate GPS tracking, user-friendly interface, hotline buttons for airport ride, etc.
The advantages that the cab drivers will get are like 0% commission on fares except for the recharge which would be in the range between 5-10%.
Other things included low per-trip recharge, free accidental health insurance, a parking facility for ASTC locations, etc.The taxi app will try to remove burning issues and ensure better earnings for drivers and better services at the lowest fare for the passengers.
ASTC stated in a press release that the concept has been developed in association with City Consultant.The registration process for the drivers will start on June 26, Passengers can avail of the service after one month. The app is available in the Play Store now. The initially registered cabs that will be approved after all verifications will get an introductory offer of assured 100 trips at only Rs 8.99 per trip. The introductory offer period may be treated as a trial period wherein suggestions and improvements will be solicited.
An ASTC kiosk is also inaugurated at the LGBI Airport where there is a footfall of thousands of passengers daily.
Speaking to Business Northeast, Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya said the charges will be less compared to other cabs. That will depend on mileage. Now, the cancellation charges will not be there. The employment for the service will start from June 26 as people can register themselves as a driver.
The Chairman of ASTC, Mission Ranjan Das informed Business Northeast that the effort is done to help both the passengers and customers.
The passengers can avail of cab services from the kiosk both online and offline in the airport to Khanapara where ISBT (Inter Service Bus Terminal) exists and to Paltan Bazaar where there is the railway station.The Managing Director of ASTC, Rahul Chandra Das, informed Business Northeast that people can send their suggestions for the improvement of the cab to the following email ID: support@astccitycabs.com and a website called http://astccitycabs.com/.
