NEC releases Rs 18.02 Cr for Meghalaya projects in June, focus on roads, tourism, and literacy

Agartala: The North Eastern Council (NEC) released a total of Rs 18.02 crore during the month of June under the Scheme of NEC for Meghalaya, including funds under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) (Roads).

These funds were released to support a range of sectors, including road connectivity, tourism infrastructure, cultural infrastructure, and development of deprived areas.

As per official data, the NEC has released these funds for seven projects across the state.

The report said that Rs 3.21 crore was released for the construction of an RCC G+4 Commercial Building of Lewdakm Laban Municipal Market, Shillong, for the sale of Agriculture, Horticulture, Handicraft, Piggery, Floriculture products, etc. Rs 1.02 crore was released for the construction of tourism infrastructure at Laitlyngkot (Lmalyer) in East Khasi Hills District, Meghalaya.

While focusing on the development of deprived areas and deprived sections of society by promoting literacy through the upgrading of selected RK Mission Schools in Meghalaya (RKM School, Umploh & Mawkynrew), the NEC has released Rs 1.24 crore.

"Focused development of deprived areas and deprived sections of society by promotion of literacy by upgrading selected RK Mission Schools in Meghalaya (RKM School, Laitlyndop and Mylliem) Rs 1.07 crore, focused development of deprived areas and deprived sections of society by promotion of literacy by upgrading selected RK Mission Schools in Meghalaya (RKM School, Mawsmai) Rs 73.04 lakh, and for construction of cultural infrastructure of six Sein Raj in East and West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya, Rs 37.90 lakh released by NEC," the data said.

The data further informed that, in addition, the North Eastern Council had also released Rs 8.88 crore under the NESIDS (Roads) for Pynursla-Latangriwan-Mawlynnong during the month of June.

"These funds were released to support a range of sectors, including connectivity, tourism infrastructure, cultural infrastructure, and development of deprived areas. The NEC remains firmly committed to the disbursement of funds to ensure the smooth and prompt implementation and completion of development projects in Meghalaya," the report said.
