New Delhi: Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have announced an expansion of their codeshare agreement, which will add 11 Indian cities and 40 international destinations to their network. This is the most significant extension of the airlines’ codeshare partnership since 2010, offering passengers more travel options between Singapore and India and other global destinations.

The new codeshare arrangement, effective from October 27, will see the two airlines increase their weekly scheduled codeshare flights between Singapore and the Indian cities of Bengaluru and Chennai from 14 to 56. This will provide greater frequency and convenience for travellers moving between the two countries.

Singapore Airlines will codeshare on Air India's domestic flights connecting key cities

Under the agreement, Singapore Airlines will codeshare on Air India's domestic flights connecting key cities like Delhi and Mumbai with locations such as Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and Varanasi, among others. Additionally, Air India customers will gain access to 29 destinations within Singapore Airlines' extensive network, including major cities across Australia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Vietnam, among others.

In return, SIA customers will benefit from connections to Air India’s international services to 12 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, via Air India hubs in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. These destinations include Paris, Frankfurt, Nairobi, London, and Riyadh, allowing SIA customers to explore new regions through Air India's network.

Passengers to get more choice, access to a broader global network

Both airlines have expressed optimism about the benefits of this expanded collaboration. Nipun Aggarwal, Air India's Chief Commercial Officer, stated that the expanded codeshare agreement will give passengers more choice and access to a broader global network, enhancing connectivity across Southeast Asia, the Far East, and Australasia. Singapore Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Lee Lik Hsin, highlighted that the arrangement reflects the strong cooperation between the carriers and is designed to meet the growing demand for air travel between India and Singapore.

The codeshare flights will be available for booking through the airlines’ respective channels, subject to regulatory approvals. Both airlines are expected to progressively include more destinations in the future as part of this extended partnership.
