250 MT Pineapples to be shipped from Imphal

Imphal: A target on the export of 250 metric tons (MT) of Pineapple was set up by Krooshi Karma Naturals Private Limited, Imphal in collaborations with Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) to Chandigarh, Mumbai, Delhi, and Jaipur which shall benefit up to 900 farmers.

The first consignment of 1.2 MT Pineapple was initiated by Additional Chief Secretary P Vaiphei. During 2018-2020, the pineapple shipment earned the state an amount of Rs 78 lakhs.

Apart from Pineapple, other fruits like Kiwi, Avocado were exported from the state.

With this initiative from MOMA, farmers will get a boost amid the pandemic crisis and will enable a business ecosystem between the growers and the buyers.

This pineapple has been a success in the market due to its queen variety cultivated in Thayong, Andro, Chiruwaithou areas.

Moreover, above 800 MT of fresh fruits and spices have been shipped outside this year with the support of MOMA.

It's been said by Vaiphei that, Rs 3 cr corpus has been raised to buy the horticulture products from state farmers and supply them to various markets.

And with the dedicated support from MOMA for the fourth consecutive year, even Manipur can export organic pineapples outside the state.

MOMA Project Director K Devdutta Sharma & Imphal Airport Director Alok Nath were also present in the rostrum.
