Guwahati: The Assam EODB (ease-of-doing business) portal of the Assam government has been revamped and promises to provide investors and entrepreneurs with nearly everything in a single window.
Named the Assam EODB Portal, the state-of-the-art portal has tried to provide nearly everything at one destination, ranging from applications, acts, rules policies, and government schemes.
A cursory glance through the https://eodb.assam.gov.in portal gives one a deep insight into Assam’s industrial sector. The details in the EODB portal give an indication that the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government is making all efforts to make life easy for entrepreneurs and investors in the state.
Another highlight of the EODB portal is that it provides online government land bank availability for any industrial purposes, which holds the key to the faster industrial growth of any state.
It may be mentioned here that a few days back, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held an investors' meeting, following which he mentioned investments worth Rs 92,000 crore to be in the pipeline, or in different stages of implementation. Sarma stated that his government is committed to providing the best ease of doing business environment to global as well as local investors.
A senior industrial department official told Business Northeast, that the EODB portal has been designed keeping in mind nearly every available industrial information that could be shared with prospective investors or an entrepreneur without any human intervention. “Government land bank data for industrial use has been uploaded on the portal revenue circle wise. This is a first-of-its-kind portal. The CM has taken a personal interest in the making of this EODB portal,” the official said.
Assam was ranked 20th in Ease of Doing Business in 2020. Among the other northeastern states, Mizoram and Tripura ranked 25 and 28. The EODB index prepared by the Department of Industrial Promotion and Internal Trade in association with the World Bank analyses the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) of each state and is a reflection of efforts made by each state in minimizing the regulatory hurdles when it comes to ease of doing business.
Whether the revamped portal of the Assam government will help the state scale higher in the EODB index remains to be seen.
