Meghalaya: Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh To Inaugurate Livestock Conclave Tomorrow

A two-day conclave is to be organised by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying titled "Dialogue For Holistic Development of Livestock Sector in North East India" in Shillong, Meghalaya, on January 23 to January 24.

Union Minister Ranjan Singh will grace the inauguration ceremony with S.P Singh Baghel, Minister of State for FAHD and Panchayati Raj, and George Kurian, Minister of State for FAHD and Minority Affairs. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Ministers from Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development departments from North East Region (NER) States will also contribute to the event that aims to discuss the strategies for the all-inclusive development of the livestock and poultry sector in the NER states. 

It will measure the current status and tests and discover chances for growth and development through value chain consolidation, technological interferences, and policy support. The conclave will enable knowledge distribution and capacity building among stakeholders - like farmers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and researchers to promote sustainable and comprehensive farming practices in alignment with the One Health approach.

The government of India is applying various flagship arrangements such as the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF), Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) under the National Livestock Mission (NLM), Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), and National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD) to supplement output and promote sustainable cattle practices in the country.
