Transformative upgrade planned for Rabindra Bhawan in Guwahati

Guwahati: Guwahati's iconic Rabindra Bhawan is set to undergo a monumental transformation with an Rs 111 crore redevelopment project unveiled by the Assam government. This ambitious initiative aims to modernize the historic cultural hub, enhancing its infrastructure and facilities to meet contemporary demands.

Rabindra Bhawan, long cherished for its role in nurturing the arts, will be revitalized with a new 2B + G + 5 structure spanning 1,58,786 square feet. The centerpiece of the redevelopment will be a 500 seat main auditorium, complemented by multiple smaller auditoriums catering to diverse artistic performances. The complex will also house art galleries, a black box theater, and a cutting-edge recording studio.

In addition to enhancing cultural amenities, the project includes provisions for office spaces, guest rooms, and ample parking, ensuring a seamless experience for visitors and organizers alike. The redevelopment of Rabindra Bhawan marks a significant step towards preserving its cultural legacy while ushering in a new era of artistic excellence and community engagement. Scheduled to commence soon, this project promises to elevate Guwahati's cultural landscape to new heights.
