Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Government of India, has emerged as the Preferred Bidder for a critical mineral exploration block in Rajasthan.

Under the 5th tranche of mineral block auctions conducted by the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, OIL has secured the compound license for the Jorkian–Satipura–Khunja Amalgamated Potash and Halite Block, located in the Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan.

This development marks the first-ever fruitful auction of Potash blocks in India, on behalf of a major policy milestone aimed at yoking the nation’s unused mineral prosperity.

The distribution of this strategic mineral block is a significant addition to OIL’s portfolio as it ventures outside its conventional energy operations. Potash, an essential component for fertilizers, plays a vital role in India’s agricultural economy. With the gaining of this block, OIL is deliberately putting itself to pay to India's goals of self-reliance in critical minerals and reduced import dependence.
