Guwahati: Kamal & Company, a firm operating in Guwahati, Assam has emerged as a venture of sustainable innovation. With a focus on addressing the critical need for hot water in remote areas, they have developed water tanks that harness the power of waste products for efficient heating by promoting environmental sustainability.

In a recent visit to the Livestock and Poultry Exhibition here, Business North East had the chance to interact with the people behind this venture as they were busy promoting sustainable and affordable water heating equipment that can be a boon to villages and other remote and challenging areas of the state.

Entrepreneurs TParsaram Pandia and Sarwan Pandia established the company just a few months ago. Recognizing the pressing need for affordable solutions in rural areas, they strategically priced their innovative equipment at a range of Rs100-150, making it accessible to even the most remote villages. At the heart of their invention is a water tank designed to harness the energy latent in everyday waste products such as dry leaves and packets.

"When burned within the confines of the tank, these materials produce enough heat to warm up to 30-40 liters of cold water in a mere 10 minutes" , city representative Ashok Kumar Das informed Business North East, explaining the mechanism. "Remarkably, the heat generated keeps the water at an optimal temperature for an extended 4-5 hours." This ingenious approach not only caters to the essential need for hot water but also promises a substantial reduction in fuel and electricity consumption.

Das, who played a pivotal role in the project, highlighted the company's extensive research journey. Venturing into diverse regions like Jaipur, Rajasthan, and Chandigarh, the team meticulously studied the unique requirements of different communities before crafting a solution tailor-made for the villages of Assam, he said.

Since its inception, Kamal & Company has seen remarkable success, with 150 units of their sustainable water tank already finding homes in places like Mangaldoi and Jagiroad.

"Our company's vision extends beyond the borders of Assam, as they set their sights on reaching far-flung regions like Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya as well", Das mentioned.

He added that Kamal & Company is "now aiming to transform the lives of those in remote areas, to empower more communities with an affordable and eco-friendly alternative to conventional heating methods."
