Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh has posted a strong revenue growth of Rs 1,200 crore in the GST regime in the previous financial year, indicating a strong trend of tax compliance and economic activity in the state.
The decision was announced by Lobsang Tsering, Commissioner of Tax and Excise, on the eve of 8th GST Day at the celebration here in State Banquet Hall on Tuesday. He also told that the state has collected over Rs 300 crore as GST revenue in the first half of the current financial year.
Taxpayers are the pillars of India's development. Their contribution propels the country forward," Tsering said, recognizing the increasing importance of responsible taxation in building nations.
The function, which was based on the theme of "GST: Simplifying Taxes; Empowering Citizens," was organized together by Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) and Central Excise Commissionerate (CEC). It combined a multitude of dignitaries such as government representatives, businesspeople, and industry leaders to celebrate eight years from the date of GST's nationwide rollout.
In the keynote address, Prof. Sushanta Kumar Nayak, Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University, praised the department's initiatives in creating a compliance culture and transparency. He pointed to the revolutionary influence GST has brought about in simplifying the tax regime of India and consolidating the national economy.
As a part of the celebrations, five entrepreneurs were awarded for outstanding adherence to GST standards. One of them was Likha Jully Neelam, owner of M/s Lifecare, who narrated her transition experience. "The first few years were tough, but the transition has become easier with digital means and active local support," she stated.

The event also honored some government officials and police officers for their role in tax enforcement and administration.
CGST Commissioner Shyam Kanu Mahanta highlighted the CEC's ongoing efforts in enforcement and facilitation of taxpayers. Joint Commissioner Amit Kumar Singh also spoke to the audience, highlighting mechanisms for supporting compliance.
Two short films were showcased at the event one prepared by the CGST Itanagar office and the other by Directorate General of Taxpayer Services, New Delhi marking the achievements of GST in the last eight years.
