Tejaswini Assam Ideathon 2024 Winners: Women Entrepreneurs To Receive Awards on October 21

The Tejaswini Assam Ideathon Awards is set to celebrate innovative and impactful ideas in sustainable living, information technology, and food processing on October 21, 2024. These award-winning concepts highlight the creative potential of women entrepreneurs and their contributions to addressing pressing societal challenges. The event aims to recognize the remarkable work being done in these fields, inspiring aspiring entrepreneurs to pursue similar paths and contribute to a brighter, more sustainable future.

Winners of the 'Tejaswini Assam Ideathon 2024' will receive a total prize of Rs. 5 Lakhs with 1st Prize: Rs. 1,50,000, 2nd Prize: Rs. 1,00,000 and 3rd Prize: Rs. 75,000. Tejaswini winners will be felicitated at the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited House in Dispur. 

Tejaswini Assam Ideathon is a contest where aspiring female entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds presented their innovative ideas across six key sectors such as - Handicraft & Handloom, Health & Wellness, IT & ITES (including Media, Entertainment, Education, Logistics, Agri, Allied & Food Processing (including Floriculture & Horticulture), Leisure, Tourism & Hospitality, and Green & Sustainable Enterprises.

Winners of Tejaswini Ideathon 2024

1.    1st Prize: Jonali Chakraborty, for Green and Sustainable Enterprises, Chirang.
2.    2nd Prize: Bhavna Choudhury, for IT & ITES, Kamrup Metro.
3.    3rd Prize: Jahnavi Barua, for Agri, Allied and Food Processing, Kamrup Metro.

Tejaswini Special Awards:
•    Women in Tech: Sagarika Das, for IT and ITES, Kamrup Metro.
•    Homemaker with an Innovative Idea: Bornali Phukan, for Health and Wellness, Jorhat.
•    Student Awards:
•    Rajlakshmi Rajkonwari, for IT and ITES, Jorhat.
•    Utkarsha Bora, for IT & ITES, Kamrup Metro.
•    Bonnasri Bodo, for Handicraft & Handloom, Dima Hasao.

Ten of the most outstanding ideas will be honored and recognized for their exceptional quality and innovation. Fifty shortlisted ideas will receive special recognition for their commendable efforts and creative contributions in this first-of-a-kind busines idea competetion in the northeast India.

The day of the felicitation program will kick off with a product exhibition by some of the selected Tejaswini winners. The felicitation will start from 11 am on October 21.

Industries & Commerce Joint Director Highlights Key Support Areas for Women Entrepreneurs

During an interaction with Business North East, Manju Rani Gogoi, the Joint Director of Ministry of Industries and Commerce, Govt of Assam stated, “From our interactions with many women entrepreneurs, we learned that they need guidance on how to conduct business. They need credit support, branding development, and various other forms of assistance. Their needs can be categorized into four key areas - basic business development, market support, policy support, and investor connections. We are planning to support them based on their demands in different fields.”

Spearheaded by the Women’s Cell of the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Assam, in collaboration with the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Ltd. (NEHHDC) as the implementing agency, Tejaswini is an initiative to provide a platform for women entrepreneurs aged 18 to 50.
