The Government of Tripura will invest Rs. 1,950 crore for ensuring 24x7 uninterrupted power supply across the state, an official said on November 16.
The Secretary of the Department of Power Brijesh Pandey in a press conference said that an investment of Rs. 2,000 Crore has been made in the last five years to strengthen the transmission and distribution system in the state's power sector.
Addressing a press conference in Agartala at the Civil Secretariat the secretary said that aiming to improve the state's renewable energy, the Tripura government has decided to install 130 MegaWatt floating power plant in the charming water body of Dumber Lake located in Gandacherra Sub Division in Phalai Tripura district.
He said that the installation of the floating power plant will be made in collaboration with the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
The secretary however underlined various developmental programs of the state power department and said that 2,18,488 families have been given electricity connection under the Deena Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana and Subhagya Yojana.
