Patanjali Foods Limited is all planned to undertake a palm oil plantation on 38,000 hectares of land in nine districts of the state. On 31st August , Arunachal agriculture minister Tage Taki and Patanjali Ayurved MD Acharya Bal Krishna laid the foundation for Patanjali Foods Limited’s palm oil plant at the Industrial Growth Centre, Niglok, in the state’s East Siang district.
The spokesperson of the company also said that they have already set up two nurseries at Pasighat and Holangi and are in the process of establishing three more nurseries at Kherram, FTC and Dipa in Lower Siang district.
He also added that it will give an impetus to the state’s economy and will create tremendous employment opportunities that will lead to an increase in the income of local farmers.
Patanjali Foods has also committed itself to the government’s National Mission on Edible Oils. The palm oil programme will undertake a large-scale cultivation on five hectares of land in the country, out of which 3.3 lakh hectares alone is in the north eastern region, according to a press statement.
“Patajali’s NE palm oil programme will immensely benefit the state’s economy for the next 30 years and more. The key benefits include average annual production of around 7.5 lakh MT of palm oil, saving about Rs. 10,500 Crore of forex outgo annually and employment generation for nearly 5.8 lakh persons," the spokesperson added.
One of the biggest palm oil plantation enterprises in India is Patanjali Foods. In 55 districts spread across 11 states- Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnatak, Gujarat, Odisha , Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam , Mizoram and Tripura have access to palm plantations.
A sizable conglomerate with interests in edible oil and derivatives, oil palm plantation, food and FMCG and the nutraceutical sector, Patanjali Foods Ltd.
The company’s sales in FY’22 were Rs 24,205 Crore,an increase of 48 percent over the previous fiscal year.
