Northeast India Attracts Rs 9,600 Crore in Investment Roadshow

Agartala: Investors have expressed interest worth Rs 9,600 crores for Northeast states during the Northeast Investment Summit Roadshow in Bangalore held on September 26 last.

The event was organised in collaboration with State governments of Northeastern, FICCI (Industry Partner), and Invest India (Investment Facilitation Partner).

The information was shared during Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's recent visit to Tripura.

He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions the Northeast as a growth engine for India. "The northeastern states have witnessed massive changes in the last 10 years with the help of both Central and State governments. There was a time when the budget for the Northeast was Rs 24,000 crore, but now it stands at Rs 1,03,000 crore, which is more than four times the previous amount," he said.

The Union Minister also mentioned that the Ministry has recently decided to organize programs to attract more investors to the region.  

"We have planned three programs, including a Banking Summit for Northeastern States and the NEC plenary session, to be held from December 6 to 8 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Additionally, the Ashtalakshmi cultural program will be organized for the Northeast states. Currently, we have conducted Northeast Investment Summit Roadshows in Bangalore and Hyderabad on September 26, with upcoming events planned in Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, and Indore. During the Bangalore roadshow, investors expressed interest amounting to Rs 9,600 crore for the Northeast," he added.

The Minister also announced that under the 4G Saturation program, approximately 119 towers will be set up in Tripura. Out of these, 90 towers have already been installed, and the project is expected to be completed by June.  

"Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Tripura are included in one package under the 4G Saturation program. Around Rs 500 crore has been allocated for these projects," he added.
