Agartala: The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TATA STRIVE and the Indian Hotels Company Ltd. (IHCL), the Taj Hotel Group, to establish a Hospitality Skill Development Centre of Excellence in the district council.

Speaking on the occasion, Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb, Royal Scion and founder of the Tipra Motha Party, which is currently ruling the District Council and in alliance with the ruling BJP in Tripura, said that after Assam, TATA STRIVE and IHCL, part of the Taj Hotel Group, have decided to open a hospitality Centre of Excellence at Khumulwng, the TTAADC headquarters.

“A residential hospitality skill centre with a capacity for 250 students will be set up, providing youths from Tripura and the rest of the Northeast with proper management training in the service and hotel sectors, as well as hands-on practical training. Tata is one of the most reputed companies in the country. Many have approached us, but we felt that offering Tata Group and IHCL certification would genuinely enhance the employability and credibility of our youths,” the royal scion said.

“They are involved not only in hospitality but also in IT and engineering, to ensure that our next generation acquires better skills. My biggest challenge is to create a new Tripura where the youth can secure a brighter future through proper skill development. Our young people have great talent, but due to legacy issues and lack of communication and exposure, they are falling behind. With certification and skill training, they will be able to earn good salaries,” he told reporters.

Pradyot Bikram stated that Tata Trust itself will handle the fees for students, with TTAADC subsidizing a portion. He also hopes that ONGC and GAIL will contribute through CSR so that TTAADC can work together for the next generations.

Ameya Vanjari, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of TATA STRIVE, said, “We have already started taking steps to quickly launch the program, which includes training in kitchen, front office, F&B, and housekeeping. The course duration will range from 10 to 15 weeks,” he added.
