Northeast artisans display rich heritage at Paris TEXWORLD 2024

Agartala: Entrepreneurs from Northeast India are showcasing the region’s indigenous silks and textiles at the TEXWORLD Show 2024 in Paris. 

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia wrote that local entrepreneurs are showcasing their products to global audiences. 

Sciandia wrote, “North-East India making for the World! Delighted to see entrepreneurs from NE India represent the region’s indigenous silks and textiles at the TEXWORLD Show 2024 in Paris. Through @MDoNER_India and @nehhdc ’s hard work and commitment towards sustainable innovation, our local entrepreneurs are showcasing their products to global audiences. My best wishes to all. Your efforts shine a bright light on the government’s vision of ‘Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi’”.

North Eastern Handicrafts And Handlooms Development Corporation Ltd, under the DoNER ministry, has informed that this initiative was made possible through the support of the IC Scheme of the Ministry of MSME which aims to promote the region's unique offerings and boost exports, demonstrating the skill and creativity of NER's artisans.

Texworld highlights international weavers from Bangladesh, China, India, Japan, Türkiye, etc. According to the official website, it brings together, twice a year in Paris, a thousand exhibitors from the fashion industry and offers professional buyers from all over the world a sourcing platform with a wide variety of products ranging from basics to the most creative and qualitative.
