New General Manager of Construction joins NFR

Guwahati: Arun Kumar Chaudhary has been appointed as the General Manager of the Construction Organisation of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). Chaudhary, a 1988 batch officer from UPSC's Indian Railway Service of engineers, brings extensive experience in various zones and PSUs of Indian Railways across the country, the NFR said in a statement. 

He has worked as the Principal Chief Engineer of Eastern Railway since June 2023. Chaudhary will be responsible for all railway construction activities within the jurisdiction of N.F.R., including all north-eastern states, Sikkim, parts of West Bengal, and Bihar.

Chaudhary has held various positions, including Executive Engineer at Flash Butt Plant in Gonda, Senior Divisional Engineer of the Lucknow division of North Eastern Railway, Director/Research at the Research Designs and Standard Organisation (RDSO), Dy. Project Director at Beira, Mozambique, General Manager at Rail India Technical and Economic Service Limited (RITES), Chief Project Manager at Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, and Chief Engineer/Construction of East Coast Railway, Bhubaneswar.

He also served as Chief General Manager/Civil at Indian Railway Construction Limited (IRCON) from May 2017 to March 2018, where he worked on speed raising projects and terminal development.

Chaudhary has also held other posts, such as Chief Engineer of North Eastern Railway from April 2018 to July 2019, and Chief General Engineer of South Central Railway, Secunderabad from July 2019 to May 2023. His work includes the preparation of the Unified Standard Schedule of Rates (IRUSSOR - 2019) exclusively for railway bridges, formation, and track for the first time for Indian Railways.
