New Delhi: The company stated that a total dividend of Rs 1,286.33 crore for the full fiscal year was paid, including an interim dividend of Rs 947.82 crore for 2023-24 on March 5, 2024. According to a statement from the company, NHPC has given the Government of India a final dividend of Rs 338.51 crore for the financial year 2023-24 on September 20, 2024. NHPC CMD R K Chaudhary presented the dividend payout bank advice to Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday, as stated.
During the meeting on May 17, 2024, the board of directors of the company suggested a dividend of Rs 0.50 per equity share, equivalent to 5 pc of the face value, for the fiscal year 2023-24 as approved in the annual general meeting on August 28, 2024. Furthermore, a temporary dividend amounting to Rs 1.40 per equity share, equivalent to 14 percent of the face value, was distributed on March 5, 2024. The company stated that a dividend of Rs 1.90 per equity share, equivalent to 19 percent of the face value, has been paid for the year 2023-24.
NHPC has over 3.8 million shareholders and the total dividend payout for the financial year 2023-24, which includes interim dividend, amounted to Rs 1,908.56 crore compared to Rs 1,858.33 crore for 2022-23. According to the DIPAM guidelines from May 27, 2016, CPSEs must pay an annual dividend of at least 30 pc of net profit or 5 pc of net worth, whichever is greater, for capital restructuring.
