NFR to resume services of Garib Rath Express trains from July

Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced plans to resume the services of two pairs of Garib Rath Express trains in July 2024. The trains will run between Agartala-Kolkata and Guwahati-Kolkata on designated days.

Train no. 12502 (Agartala- Kolkata) will run every Wednesday from July 3, departing from Agartala at 7:35 am to reach Kolkata at 2:30 pm the next day. On the other hand, train no. 12501 (Kolkata- Agartala) will run every Sunday from July 7, departing from Kolkata at 9:40 pm to reach Agartala at 5:15 am on Tuesday. The trains will pass through various stations, including Dharmanagar, New Haflong, Guwahati, Goalpara Town, New Bongaigaon, New Alipurduar, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Katwa Jn., and Bandel Jn. The trains will be operated with 16 AC-3 tier economy coaches for passenger convenience.

Commenting on the development, a railway spokesperson said, "The resumption of these express trains will fulfill the long-standing demand of the people, strengthen rail connectivity between Northeast and West Bengal, benefit patients, students, and commuters, and promote economic growth and commerce."
