Guwahati: Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, the General Manager of the Northeast Frontier Railway, conducted a thorough onboard inspection of the Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express on July 17, 2024.

During the inspection, he interacted with passengers and collected valuable feedback on passenger convenience and related services. He noted suggestions to improve the available services.

Vande Bharat Express is a medium-distance superfast express service operated by Indian Railways. It is a reserved, air-conditioned chair car service. The Northeast got its first Vande Bharat in May, 2023.

Several passengers mentioned a noticeable change in the experience of traveling in trains over the years, with improvements in cleanliness inside trains, toilets, and AC. Shrivastava emphasized the importance of a good travel experience for all passengers, according to a spokesperson for the NFR.

Shrivastava also inquired about the quality and quantity of on-board catering services and assured passengers about the Indian Railway's commitment to providing passenger-friendly menus and better services.

During his journey from Guwahati to New Bongaigaon, Shrivastava conducted footplate inspections to check crew alertness during the semi-high-speed train.

He noted safety precautions being followed and advised crew to remain alert during the journey. He also inspected toilets, checked cooling systems in all coaches, and instructed staff to ensure proper pest control measures inside coaches.
