Aizawl: The Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL) apprised the Chief Minister of Mizoram Lalduhoma about the progress on the crucial Northeast Gas Grid (NEGG) project.
A team of IGGL officials, led by the chief executive officer Dr Ajit Kumar Thakur and chief operating officer (COO), Pankaj Patowary met Lalduhoma on May 20. They informed the CM about the construction status of the ongoing 127km long Panisagar-Aizawl natural gas pipeline being implemented by IGGL as a part of the North East Gas Grid Project.
"Lalduhoma assured all his support for the timely completion of the Panisagar-Aizawl section of the gas pipeline project which will open up tremendous opportunities for accelerated industrial growth in the state", noted a government release.
Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL) is a joint venture of five major petroleum public sector undertakings (PSUs), namely Indian Oil Corporation Limited ( IOCL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGCL), Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), Oil India Limited (OIL) and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL). The IGGL is implementing the North East Gas Grid Project connecting the state capitals, major cities and the demand centres of the eight Northeastern States at an estimated cost of Rs 9265 Crore.
The North East Gas Grid will be connected to the National Gas Grid to ensure the supply of natural gas to all the 8 states. Earlier this month, officials said that the project has achieved a "physical progress" of 81 percent.
The National Gas Grid, envisaged by the federal government, is designed to ensure that natural gas is available and distributed throughout the country.
