Guwahati: North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFi) and State Bank of India (SBI) under the aegis of Ministry of DoNER in association with Confederation of Indian Industry is organizing North East Banking Conclave on April 28 2023 in Delhi at Constitutional Club of India with special focus on MSME and the Startups.
Addressing the media on a gathering today, 26th April, 2023 at NEDFi House, PVSLN Murty, Chairman and Managing Director, NEDFI mentioned that North East Bankers' Conclave is the first of a kind leadership event specifically organized to brainstorm the challenges of banking sectors of North East and come up with actionable strategies to address the same at various level starting from policy planning upto grass root level implementation.
The Northeast Banking Conclave will create a platform for discussion, debate and curating ideas on how the banking sector in NER can serve as a catalyst for the development of the region. The Conclave will focus its discussion on the various aspects of the banking sector in the region, issues and challenges as well as future plans in the presence of leading bankers, regulators, industry experts and other stakeholders.
Speaking to Business-Northeast, CMD Murty mentions that there is a need to increase banking facilities in northeaster region.
And with advanced technologies and connectivity in the region, banking facilities will be easier to reach out, he adds
The conclave will also witness deliberating specific challenges of banking sector of North East which includes Banking Outreach and Inclusive Service Delivery in the region, Credit Support to MSMEs and Startups of North East, implementation of central/state scheme by the Banks in North East and Credit to Agri and Allied sector, etc.
The conclave will be attended by several union ministries and bank officials including G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Tourism, Culture and DONER, Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad, Minister of State, Ministry of Finance, B.L. Verma, Minister of State, Ministry of DONER, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India and other senior beaurocrates. The panel discussions and open forum will be partricipated by leaders across sectors such as Commercial Banks, Development Banks, Startups, Policy Makers, Think-Tank Organizations, Micro-Lending Organizations, Regulatory Authorities and Entrepreneurs.
