Aizawl: The Mizoram Liaison Office of the North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR) was inaugurated in Aizawl on June 12. Pu Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner and Secretary of the Planning and Programme Implementation Department, emphasized the importance of science and technology in Mizoram's development and hoped that the office would be a blessing for the state.
Arun Kumar Sarma, Director General of NECTAR, presided over the inauguration function and presented NECTAR's works and projects. NECTAR, established in 2012 under the Department of Science and Technology, aims to harness and leverage niche frontier technologies available with central scientific departments and institutions.
In Mizoram, NECTAR has initiated 14 projects, including a solar-powered cold storage demonstration in Khawzawl district, a motif design and replication system of traditional Mizo puan, and promoting techno-preneurship, government officials said in a release.
