Kohima: The Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) has invited five individuals from film and related fields from Nagaland to attend the 18th Mumbai International Film Festival, 2024. These individuals include Chiam Shiu, Kikru Neikha, Supongnukshi Pongener, Jackto Wotsa, and Thejanguzo Titus Pienyü.

The participation at MIFF is an initiative of the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in collaboration with DIPR.

"DIPR aims to promote local talent by providing them with exposure and a prestigious platform," the agency said in a statement. "This initiative underscores the department's commitment to fostering the growth and recognition of Nagaland's vibrant film community. By facilitating the participation of these five individuals at MIFF, DIPR and NFDC aim to shine a spotlight on Nagaland's creative potential and encourage further development and recognition of the region's artistic contributions on a national and international stage."

Yapangnaro Longkumer, an independent documentary filmmaker from the state, has been invited to attend the first-ever Documentary Film Bazaar at MIFF. The three-day event will allow filmmakers to connect with industry experts, receive feedback on their projects, find international and national buyers, and propel their films onto the global stage.

According to the government's release, Longkumer has made several documentaries for Films Division, Mumbai, directed multiple documentaries, public service announcements, and government initiative film projects in the state of Nagaland, and her production house has covered a wide spectrum of film and media-related productions for the past several years.
