Itanagar: A 50-day skill development training programme on traditional Adi attire, which began in Sibum village in Upper Siang district on Thursday, is being taken part in by thirty rural women, including SHG members.
The NABARD-approved programme is carried out by the Dite Mopang Welfare Association (DMWS).
The skill development programme was introduced by NABARD DDM Nitya Mili, who stated that "Adi textile has been taken up for GI registration by the NABARD, and the application has already been filed," in the presence of the DMWS chairman, GBs, the village secretary, and others. It will provide the handloom goods made in the district by the SHG members a distinctive character.
The trainees' products will be helped to sell and promote by the NABARD "by way of rural marts, exposure at melas and exhibits, etc.," he continued.
