For improved pricing and better market access, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) hosted The International Buyer Seller Meet, which saw participation from nine countries, 27 plus exporters and exhibitors from the Middle East, Russia, Singapore, and Nepal.
These buyers played a crucial role in the Buyer-Seller Meet primarily exploring the showcased products and evaluating potential purchases. Their interest mainly focused on ginger, turmeric, Mizo chilli, and fruits like oranges and dragon fruit.
While speaking to Business North East (BNE), APEDA officials revealed that while they have made no immediate commitments, APEDA and the Mizoram state government emphasized plans to facilitate the entry of these products into international markets.
"To support meaningful interactions, the state's marketing board officials assisted Mizoram farmers, ensuring effective communication, overcoming language barriers and enabling buyers to better understand the value of local offerings,” an APEDA official, who did not want to disclose his identity, said, adding that discussions are ongoing.
"Feedback from the buyers regarding Mizoram's products is expected to be collected over the next few days, which could provide valuable insights for future engagements. The state government is also actively promoting Mizoram-specific products like ginger, turmeric, Mizo chilli, and broom grass through handholding projects aimed at increasing production and enhancing market readiness," he added.
Moreover, officials acknowledged the need for improved infrastructure and connectivity to attract more global buyers to future events. Despite these challenges, the participation of international buyers contributed significantly to the success of the conclave.

APEDA officials confirmed that buyers expressed satisfaction with the quality of Mizoram's products. However, addressing high transportation costs and ensuring competitive pricing remain key priorities for expanding Mizoram’s footprint in global markets.
The event also highlighted the initiatives undertaken under the MOVCD-NER scheme for enabling the value chain ecosystem in the Agri-Horti sector in NER, the revised National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) 2024, demonstration of the new TraceNet System and marketing ecosystem in the state.
Meanwhile, the Spices Board of India, NERACE, NABARD, and other exhibitors showcased a vibrant display of products like Pineapple, Dragon Fruit, Ginger, Spices, Passion Fruit, Mandarins, Organic Products, Spices, and Value Added Products like Pineapple and jams.
