Guwahati: In a groundbreaking move towards digital governance, Assam's Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Ashok Singhal, chaired the first-ever fully web-based and paperless review meeting of the Department of Housing and Urban Affairs (DoHUA). The meeting utilized the newly developed Unified Portal of DoHUA and included various departmental verticals such as AMRUT, PMAY-U, AUWSSB, and the Technical Cell.

Held at Janata Bhawan, Dispur, the review meeting marked a significant milestone in Assam’s commitment to digital transformation. Attendees included Commissioner and Secretary Kavitha Padmanabhan, senior officials from all verticals, and the developers behind the portal.

Minister Singhal emphasized real-time data uploads and directed vertical heads to ensure that field officers can upload data, photographs, and project progress reports directly to the portal. This move is designed to increase transparency, streamline operations, and enhance accountability.

“This will be the new standard for all departmental reviews,” Minister Singhal announced, highlighting the efficiency and environmental benefits of the paperless initiative. The shift is expected to significantly improve decision-making processes and contribute to better governance and service delivery across Assam.
