Meghalaya to get Rs 147 cr under PM-DevINE in FY23

Shillong: Meghalaya will receive Rs 146.79 crore under the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE) for the construction of a four-lane road and conversion of an existing two-lane road into a four-lane one with cycling tracks, utility ducts and footpaths at New Shillong Township.

PM-DevINE was announced as a new central sector scheme in the Union Budget 2022-23. Keeping in view the objectives of the scheme, 11 projects, amounting to Rs 1,503.44 crore, including the seven projects announced in Budget 2022-23, have been selected for sanction in FY 2022-23.

Assam is set to receive Rs 132.86 crore for the transformation of 20 schools as Centre of Excellence in Kamrup district. It will also get RS 129 crore for the establishment of dedicated services for the management of Paediatric and Adult Haematolymphoid Cancers in North East India, Guwahati.

Among other projects are the establishment of a solar micro-grid for the supply of reliable power to remote habitations in Tripura worth Rs 80.79 crore; 22 livelihood projects relating to Special Development of Eastern Nagaland worth Rs 180 crore; pilot project for the construction of bamboo link roads in various districts in Mizoram worth Rs 100 crore; construction of Aizwal by-pass road on Western Side worth Rs 500 crore; and NECTAR Livelihood Improvement Project (multi-state) for utilisation of banana pseudo stem for value-added products worth Rs 67 crore.
